We don't publicize the welfare fund. We don't ask families to fill out forms or prove their need. The Rebbi knows. The menahel knows. They tell our welfare director, and within 48 hours something quietly arrives.
We do this because the alternative is unthinkable: a child being pulled out of our school because the family is too proud to ask for help. The welfare fund is small in dollars and infinite in consequence.
Distributed to roughly 280 families per year — about 4% of our enrollment.
